The Eaglesham Social Lunch Club meets in Montgomery Hall in Gilmour Street once a week on a Friday from about 10am till 3pm. This day centre has been in existence since 1992. A team of volunteers help to run the club, with Alison Gray as the convenor. There are 26 members and 12 helpers.
An Age Concern Eastwood mini-bus picks up the members and takes them home at the end of the day. Lunch, tea and coffee are provided. The members usually have a pre-lunch blether, play cards and dominoes, or catch up on magazine reading. After lunch there are organised activities or speakers – for example, a visit from Eaglesham Primary Choir, a bring and buy sale, singing accompanied by a guitar etc. The group also go on outings to the coast, garden centres or places of interest and have an annual Christmas party.
If you are interested in joining the Lunch Club, or helping out as a volunteer, please phone our number (0141 638 2158 – if it’s the answering machine we’ll get back to you as soon as possible) or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
